Sonny Schmidt fue un Culturista profesional nacido en Nueva Zelanda, concretamente en Edmond Alten Schmidt el 9 septiembre de 1953.
Creció en Western Samoa y más adelante se fué a vivir a Melbourne (Australia)
De forma Ocasional viajaba a los Estados Unidos para competir.
Sonny participó en una gran cantidad de competiciones, aunque siempre será recordado por el Mr. Olympia de 1995 en el que fué el justo ganador.
Lamentablemente también hubieron episodios digamos “oscuros” en su vida, como por ejemplo en el año 2000 que fué arrestado por posesión de drogas (concretamente cocaina).
Sonny Schmidt murió el 25 de Enero del 2004 a causa del cancer.
